MeetUp Goals:‍

-Bringing together community builders, actors, doers and enthusiasts all in one place to connect, network with the intention of creating long-lasting relationships and future collaborations.

-Reducing, with the intent of eliminating, incidents of racism and hate-based violence in Edmonton.

-Stimulating co-creating and facilitating partnerships between Edmonton-based community organizations.

-Increasing a sense of solidarity and connectedness between all diversities and communities in Edmonton.

-Increasing knowledge of anti-racism in Edmonton and among community organizations

MeetUp itinerary:

3:30-4:30 pm: Guests arrival

4:30-5:00 pm: Ice-breaking games

5:00-5:30 pm: African Line Dance Tutorial

5:30-6:30 pm: Connect, Mingle. Play games.

6:30-7:00 pm: Open floor for speeches by community actors (5 mins max per speeches to introduce yourself and tell people what you do)

7:00-7:30 pm: Closing remarks and aurevoirs

MeetUp Description:

Since inception, La Connexional has had the privilege to incubate, collaborate, work or interact with over 150+ community-driven organizations in Edmonton, the City of Champions! At La Connexional, we believe that change starts with a bonjour, a hola, a hello; we believe that change starts with you!

Edmonton is home to a wide variety of vibrant communities and community-driven initiatives, programs, institutions and much more. It is about time, we come together, all in one place and get to know each other in a nonwork related environment.

Are you interested in community building? Are you part of an organization that is creating or wants to create impact? Do you want to meet and network with other community-oriented businesses and enthusiasts in your city, then you know where to be on Wednesday, September 21st between 3:30 and 730 pm.

Tickets are FREE (we do encourage donations to help us cover the cost associated with the logistic of the event). What better way to end the summer than to mingle outdoors, play games and connect with like-minded people .

What is Community? How do you define community? Those will be *some of the ice breaking* questions of the day. We are excited to connect with you!

Dress code:

Yes, this is a Gala and yes this is also a Community event so come as you are :). We do encourage the wear of suits, cultural attire or clothing with special significance to you. Your clothing for this event does not matter, but your vibes and energy do, so come wearing the BIGGEST SMILE EVER :), this will be the only thing we will do our best to enforce! Please remember that The Backyard is an outdoor, open-air venue located in downtown Edmonton. You will be outside during the event so please dress for the weather.
